Individual Therapy

Individual therapy is a powerful way of navigating challenging experiences in a more integrated, graceful, and supportive way. Some life experiences or mental health issues can be altering, painful, distressing, and sometimes even life threatening. Individual therapy can be a powerful way of accessing compassion, helpful tools, recovery, and healing with the support of a skilled, compassionate therapist who truly desires to help in an effective way. There are many types of therapy that work for different needs and symptoms. We have a diverse team ready to assist.

EMDR Therapy

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences.  Repeated studies show that by using EMDR therapy people can experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference. It is widely assumed that severe emotional pain requires a long time to heal.  EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma.  When you cut your hand, your body works to close the wound.  If a foreign object or repeated injury irritates the wound, it festers and causes pain.  Once the block is removed, healing resumes.  EMDR therapy demonstrates that a similar sequence of events occurs with mental processes.  The brain’s information processing system naturally moves toward mental health.  If the system is blocked or imbalanced by the impact of a disturbing event, the emotional wound festers and can cause intense suffering.  Once the block is removed, healing resumes.  Using the detailed protocols and procedures learned in EMDR therapy training sessions, clinicians help clients activate their natural healing processes.

Family Therapy

Sometimes the whole family is in need of support. When a family experiences major life transitions such as a family member’s death, a parent’s divorce, or parent’s re-marriage, family therapy can help. Another reasons to schedule a session for the whole family is when there has been some kind of trauma (i.e., abuse, rape, near death experience, etc.). Family therapy can also help when there is a high level of stress or a behavioral and/or mental health concern with a child or parent.

Telehealth Therapy

Telehealth describes health services provided via communications technology, including information, education, case management, and clinical services. Telemedicine began over four decades ago, originally to serve remote rural communities and clients with mobility restrictions.

The term telemedicine refers to clinical services provided remotely via phone or internet, now including a variety of teleconferencing and video streaming technologies. Clients who would have to travel hours or days to reach a clinic could use technology to reach out to doctors and clinicians for the services they need.

Telehealth with The Resiliency Center of Idaho can be done from a phone, laptop, computer or tablet in a safe and confidential spot in your home. We utilized a secure system which includes a unique login for your session.
